Your tattoo artist will cover your fresh tattoo with a bandage or plastic wrap. Leave it on for 2-6 hours (or as advised by your artist). This protects the tattoo from bacteria and prevents infection.

Remove the bandage with clean hands. Use lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free soap (like Dial or Dr. Bronner’s). Gently wash away any excess ink, blood, and plasma. Pat dry with a clean paper towel—don’t rub!

Use a fragrance-free ointment like Aquaphor or a tattoo balm. Apply a thin layer—your skin should still be able to breathe. Do not over-moisturize.

Keep your tattoo exposed to fresh air when possible. Avoid tight clothing that can rub against the tattoo. Never touch your tattoo with dirty hands!

Wash your tattoo twice a day with mild soap and water. Apply fragrance-free lotion (like Lubriderm or Aveeno) 2-3 times daily. Switch to lotion instead of ointment after the first 3-4 days.

Your tattoo will itch, but don’t scratch it!
🚫 No soaking – Avoid baths, swimming pools, hot tubs, and saunas.
🚫 No sun exposure – Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight. UV rays can cause fading.
🚫 No heavy sweating – Avoid intense workouts that cause excessive sweating

Your tattoo will start to peel like a sunburn—this is normal. Some light scabbing may occur—do not pick at it.
